The Brad Gang was begun in summer 2003. It all started when Cork Magic: The Gathering tournament organizer Lee Murphy began to refer to the people introduced to Magic by Brad Peyton as 'the Brad gang'. As the 'gang' continued to swallow more and more DSC members it was realized by many that these guys weren't going away any time soon.
So finally, we started up a website on January 1st 2004 to herald in the new year. Quite quickly, our members had gained respect within the community by winning and placing in many Magic tournaments around Cork. Whether this was due to skill or just our sheer numbers, we were proud. And we all know what proud people do... They keep on winning. So that is just what we're going to do.
Live long and prosper 'gang'! Best of luck with your next tournament, and may you topdeck like you deserve to.

Magic: The Gathering (MTG) is a Collectible Card Game (CCG) originally designed by Richard Garfield. The game is produced by Wizards of the Coast (WotC) in the state of Washington in the United States of America.
It is a game where 2 or more players control battling wizards in an attempt to kill all of their opponents by casting spells and summoning all types of creatures. The game is extremely addictive and has a tendency to form large friendly communities of 'card floppers' who find it fun to compete in local tournaments for both fame and fortune.
In Cork, tournament locations favor the Gingerbread House on Patrick St., upstairs in the Victoria Hotel, UCC's Student Centre main hall, and Rochestown Park Hotel. Tournament organizer Thomas Ralph is the most well known organizer in Cork. He is a Certified Level 2 Magic judge and runs his tournaments 'strict but fair'. The underdog organizer Lee Murphy favors a less strict environment that allows for more casual play and everyday type testing. Many other organizers can be found in Cork and most advertize their events on the Yahoo Group irl_magic_list.
Also, the largest gaming event in Ireland is held yearly on the UCC campus. It is called WarpCon. It normally runs over one weekend from Friday night until Sunday night in late January. I highly reccommend attending. There are all sorts of events and I would think something to suit any type of gamer. Even if you don't find something you enjoy, you can always laugh at the guys who do LARPS (live-action role playing). You can't get much funnier than grown men dressing up as elves and orcs and bashing each other with rubber swords and foam boulders!
